Icky Market... Blah

Sunday, May 3, 2009
All I ever seem to write about is how bad I am about blogging. That's a sad statement. *sigh*

One way you can keep up to date without waiting for me to write something it by signing up for our twitter! You can find us and follow us at http://twitter.com/jayhillfarm .

Yesterday was the fifth farmer's market of the year. And as we have come to expect, it was cold and raining. You would think that this would insipire misery, but we actually had a lovely time! Many of you came out to see us despite the terrible weather. Mom and I brought quite a bit of produce as well which was great.

This was our second week for Asparagus, though we still don't have much, as well as our first week for Rhubarb. The rhubarb was a real hit of course. Those two crops are our first real signs of spring. At this point, the constant monotany of potatoes, onions, salad mix and chard are getting to all of us I think.

We'll be adding new crops as fast as we can this time of year, though I freely admit to being slightly overwhelmed. The outdoor crops loved this burst of moisture though, so yay!

It looks as though good weather will return to us in the near future and the nights are supposed to stay above 40 degrees for the next 10 days at least, so a lot more will be going into the fields. I'll be updating the site fairly consistantly over the next few weeks, so keep an eye on the order online section.

I'm off to the farm to check on all the happy plants... and to get some more in the ground. *whee!*

This blog post goes out to Scott -- See, I will blog if you guilt trip me... in a good way of course! Thanks!
